"Why Am I Not Happy?" Why Is Life A Struggle?" Why Doesn't Work, Work?"

“Why am I not happy?”

Why is life a struggle?”

“Why doesn’t work, work?”

Do you pray and seem to never get an answer to these questions?  Well I just have to ask you – do you take time off in your hectic day to listen?

Reflect

Reflect on all you have, all you hope to do, and what you have done, decide if you are going to live the life you want – or if, instead, be told  what you should do or be from the outside world (friends, family, church members etc).  I have done this very thing.  Read my blog post on Pursuit of Happiness.

When you take this quiet time and really listen to the spirit only then will you tap into your skills, talents, creativity that you were truly designed for.

If you could relate to these questions above and you asked yourself, if I keep going this way, how it’s going to affect my loved ones and myself.  If you are losing your spirit, what kind of husband, wife, father, mother or friend will you be as time goes on?

You have to decide to be happy where you are at this moment in your life.

If you want change then work towards that change but do not have the mind set that you hate where you are.  God has put you there for that season in your life.

Do you look down on yourself because you feel you do not have a great job or one that people will look down on you?  Every job even if it is cleaning restrooms is very important.

Remember that where you are at, at this time in your life is grooming you for the next step.

Okay with all of that said, it takes balance of time and perseverance to find the work and life of your dreams.  Here are some characteristics to help you and support you.

        Vision
– get clarity on what you want.  Describe your vision with detail.  Visualize this vision as though you already have it.

Strong intention - determination to get what you want.  Pursue this dream and goals live it as though it is happening at this moment.  Feel it; get emotional about the very thing you are wanting.

Unwavering belief - believing so strong that it will stand up against all challenges.  Successful people dream big and do not waver in their dreams and goals.

Action approach – move toward your goal.  You know what you need to do so just do it.  If it is finding a job, getting better skills in whatever it is, take action.

Focus – go over your goals and dreams every day.  Keep your mind on the things that you want.  Do not let fear get in the way.  If your vision is detailed enough you will stay focused.  Pick one thing everyday to work toward your goal or dream.

Faith – believing even when you cannot see it.  Know it is just a matter of time.  Do not let your current situation stop you.  You keep going until God tells you otherwise.

Every problem has a solution, by law.  Your problems cannot be solved on the same level of thinking that it took to get you in the place you are now.

It is easy to think downhill, so start thinking uphill.

Be positive and surround yourself with positive input.  You can change your life.  You are the designer, design.  Start now!

Enjoy your journey!

Can You Predict Your Future?

Can You Predict Your Future?

Yes you can predict your future.

Here is a quote that tells why, “The best way to predict your future is to create it” Abraham Lincoln.

Have you ever seen a successful person fly by the seat of their pants?  Most successful people are very goal oriented.  They know what they want and they focused on achieving it everyday.

Goal setting is a skill.

If you are not a goal setting is a skill that you can accomplish.  Having goals big and small will help you be more positive, confident and it will also help your creativity and energy for goal attainment.

Setting goals will help you create your future.

Make a list of at least 20 goals or dreams, no matter how big or small.  Remember you have a big God that wants you to succeed.  Figure out which items matter the most to you.  Sometimes when you accomplish a big goal some of your smaller ones will fall in under the big goal.

So find the items you are going to focus on write down the date that you would like to them accomplished.  Remember that the date can be changed if you do not meet it.  What matters most is that you do not give up.

You have to make conscious decisions.

Your conscious mind filters the data that comes in, what we hear, things we think, feel and sense.

You see, what I have found is that most focus on their negative.  Here are 2 thoughts that most people have.

        1.  Fear of failure – that includes poverty, embarrassment, rejection, etc.

      2.  Doubt in their abilities – they think others are somehow better or smarter.

Manage your mindset.

You have to be able to manage your mindset.

There was a man that had been sitting by the pool waiting to get in to be healed, but everyone would pass him by and never help put him in the pool.  He had been sick for 38 years, until Jesus came on a Sabbath and told him to get up and walk.

Those that were around had seen what Jesus had done,  but instead of being grateful or in any kind of amazement they were complaining about him being healed on the Sabbath.  Can you believe that?  He was HEALED after 38 years.

Do you see what I am getting at?  They were more focused on the negative instead of what happened.  A healing had taken place.

Focus on the positive.

Every situation can become a positive, just look for it.  Surround yourself with positive people and things that will keep you focused.

Here is your list to get you started and to keep you focused.

1.  Pick out 3 items from your list that are the most important.

            2.  Write to the side of each item or goal , the obstacles that stand in the way.

         3.  Plan how you will over come the obstacles.

        4. Surround yourself with positive input and people that live on the level that you want to be.

How To Keep Your Job And Get Promoted In 2010

This is a great article if you are interested in bettering yourself and your thoughts.

How To Keep Your Job And Get Promoted In 2010

How To Keep Your Job And Get Promoted In 2010

In this uncertain economy and ever changing job market, people are more concerned than ever about how to keep their jobs and move up in their careers in 2010. The rules of the game are changing, and now its more important than ever to review your personal strategy for success as well!

Here’s 5 quick tips to help you perform better in 2010, ensuring you’re not only passed by during the next round of lay offs, but considered for a advancement and a promotion too.

1. Ask yourself this question, "Do I contribute to my work environment, do I take away from my work environment, or am I neutral?"
If you contribute, your employer will do whatever it takes to keep you. If you cause problems, they can’t wait to let you go.  If you’re unnoticed and do nothing to separate yourself from the crowd, it doesn’t bother them to let you go. When Joy from Nevada, first came to www.DaniJohnson.com, she had this unfortunate experience. Why? She hated her boss and he knew it. She had no respect for him, gossiped behind his back, and thought she could do his job better. She wasn’t a contributor and she wasn’t neutral; she ‘took away’ from the environment.  After attending one of our live events, Joy learned how to contribute to her boss.  She not only kept the job, she now has been promoted!

2. Don’t overpromise and underdeliver!
This drives employers CRAZY and is a sure way to lose your job. When your boss gives you a deadline for a task or project, make sure you fulfill your commitment. I’ve employed a lot of people thru the years. The people that continuously ‘drop balls’ are the ones that cause the most stress. If you cause your employer stress, you’re on the ‘next to go’ list. My recommendation: if you run into challenges that inhibit you from completing the task, don’t wait until the deadline to inform your supervisor or manager. Come to them immediately and let them know. Ask for their advice, insights, or suggestions on how it could be done better. You both have the same goal; the task being successfully finished so they will be willing to give their advice, opinion or suggestions.

When you do this, three things happen:
1) You look good to your boss – most people love to work with teachable people.
2) The job gets done exactly how they want it and on time.
3) You make your boss look good, as well as feel good.

So, rather than overpromising and underdelivering, underpromise and overdeliver.  When it’s possible, turn things in early. Go the extra mile. Do what others won’t do and do it with a smile.

First time here? Learn more about Dani Johnson and Call To Freedom Int’l and how we can help you succeed in everyday life here.

3. This is not the time to be slacking!
If you are texting, tweeting, facebooking or emailing to your personal friends on company time you deserve to lose your job. If you’re talking on the phone or planning personal activities while at work, you’re simply asking to get fired. Employers are under an amazing amount of stress right now. The market is more competitive and they are looking for people they can trust to get things done and in a timely fashion. Treat your job as though it was your business. As though you were the one who invested all the time and money to get it off the ground, and if it fails, your family and your employees don’t eat. If it fails, it is your reputation that goes down the toilet. Become what I call an ‘employee-prenuer’. Take ownership in what you do. Where there is ownership, there is commitment. Where there is commitment, there is success. The reverse is also true, where there is no ownership, there is no commitment and where there is no commitment, there is NO SUCCESS!

4. Don’t give in to wearing your emotions on your sleeve by putting ‘fear’ on at work!
It is one heck of an ugly suit! If you are afraid of losing your job, it’s written all over you. Everyone at work can see fear on you anyway. At the same time, fear is contagious and doesn’t get a pay check. Excellence and diligence does. I have found it nearly impossible to do a great job at anything when I am wearing ‘fear’.  I suggested this to Kim, a client from Georgia, during a coaching session. Kim stopped wearing fear and put on confidence and excellence. She ended up with a $25k raise when others were laid off.

5. Kiss your bad attitude good-bye!
I was recently on an airplane and was shocked at the conduct of the flight attendant. This is an airline that I decided along time ago I would no longer fly because of how rude the flight attendants always are. They were rated one of the worst airlines. However, recently things have changed. They now say ‘please’ and with a smile.  They are now having friendly conversations with their clients. They have changed their demanding tone to a friendly tone. People like to be treated with respect. They like smiles and ‘thank you’s’ and ‘please’. They like to be honored. Even if you are going thru something difficult in your personal life, leave your problems at home.  A bad attitude will lose your job, which will add to your problems, not fix them.

Emotional Awareness and Your Money

What does your emotions have to do with your finances?

Have you thought about that?  Well it has a lot to do with your emotional awareness .  Have you heard of the Law of Attraction?  You bring things into existence when you have a thought and you get emotional about it.   When you get emotional about something and it becomes real in your mind, you will take action and work towards that very thing.  So....

How do you feel about money?

Do you sometimes look at others and think they have it together?  They seem to always be in the right place at the right time.  Its because they have controlled their thoughts and emotions and attracted those things to them.  They have Control of their emotions so that means they control what and how they think.

Do you like money?  It is okay to have money it is the love of money that is wrong.    God wants to bless and prosper you.  There’s more scriptures supporting WEALTH and MONEY than there are talking against it. Here a a few examples:

Deuteronomy 28:53, “It pleases the Lord to make you prosper.”
Deuteronomy 29:29, “Follow my commandments so that you may prosper in EVERYTHING you do.”
Proverbs 11:25, “A generous man will prosper.”
Proverbs 28:25, “He who trusts in the Lord will prosper.”
Jeremiah 29:11, “I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Job 22:21, “Submit to God and be at peace with him; in this way, prosperity will come to you.”

Work unto God not man for He sees what you do.  The bible says "if you do not work you do not eat".; 2 Thessalonians 3:10.  God will bless the fruit of your hands.

Know that the money that God gives to you is for a bigger purpose than for your things.

Do you judge others for what they have?

Do not compare yourself to others.  Sometimes we get distracted and look around at others and start wanting what they have or we start judging them because of what they have.  This is when you take a self-awareness check.  Why do you feel this way?  Remember that you have favor ask God for what it is that you want.  Always ask Big, He is a big God.  He wants you to have the desires of your heart.  If you need wisdom in your finances or your business, ASK!

When you ask God for something do you take action?

There is always a time of plenty and a time of famine.  Are you prospering where you are at, even if you are in the famine.  Can God trust in you with what you have?  There is an example that you must read in Matthew 25:14-30.  It tells what you should do with your money.  It is amazing that everything you need is in the bible to become prosperous.

Prosper where you are planted.  Joseph could not have been very happy with being put in prison and not being able to use his gifts but it all turned around. If you do not know the story about Joseph then you had better read it.  God is telling us alot about the things that come against us and how He uses it for our good.   Keep working toward your dreams.   The enemy would like to steal that from you so that you will give up.  Joseph did not give up and he became a very wealthy man.

 It is okay to fail.

Failure is not fatal.  You just need to learn from your failures.  Some of my best lessons learned has been through my failures.  Don't worry about them, God's grace covers all.  Pick yourself back up and move on, everyone makes mistakes.

Make sure you keep your emotions in tack.  Make your check list of your emotions through out the day.  Make sure the enemy is not using your emotions to keep you from prospering in your life and business.

Here is a great place to start your journey if you want to succeed and prosper in your business.  http://www.bronwenlise.com/mmugregistration.html  In MMUG you have alot of free tools so use them.  Get started no more excuses.  I heard once that "an excuse is just a well planned lie".  So get started.

Journey on today and tomorrow and the next day.

Emotional Control. What??? Part 3

  Personal Power

Personal Power is our next and last of the this segment of Emotional Control.  Personal Power - defined as one's own capability to accomplish a task and select an effective approach to a task or problem.

Personal Power includes self-confidence, but it also includes much more but at this time we are going to concentrate on self-confidence.  It's an inner-knowing.  It is knowing what you want and taking action, these are people that get what they want in life.  They have a self-confidence in themselves and who they are in Christ.

Are you a Moses?

Lets take a look at Moses; Exodus 4:10.  Then Moses said to the Lord, "O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither before nor since You have spoken to Your servant, but I am slow of speech and slow of tongue."   Moses didn't have the confidence in himself because he could not speak eloquently.   All Moses needed was some help, and who better than God.  When you are feeling no confidence (personal power) ask God to help you in whatever your situation might be.  Everyone has a weak areas, take action walk through it, believe in yourself, know the direction you want to go.  Know who you are in Christ.

Are you having trouble identifing if you have personal power?  Lets take a look.
  •   Do you avoid confrontations with people?
  •   Difficulty speaking truth to power?
  •   Do you lack confidence in your judgement?
  •   Difficulty defending your ideas?
  •   Avoid challenges or give in too readily, question your own ability?
  •   Do you take risks or chances, even moderate ones?
  •   Unable to set boundaries, or demand respect from others?

Do you have any of these issues?  Then you do not have personal power competency.  You can over come this, just as Moses did.

People with different levels of personal power perform the same skills or tasks differently.  For example Martin Luther King and his "I have a dream" speech - a very powerful message; and his ability to tap into his personal power successfully launched the civil rights movement.  Some people give a great speech but they lack the inspiration because of their personal power or self-belief.

You have to make a choice to always have faith in yourself - regardless of the circumstances.  When you are writing in your emotional awareness journal make notes of your self-belief and your self-talk at that time also.

Self-Talk: "The skill and practice of replacing old, harmful 'mental programs' with new programs that create a healthier, long-term sense of self, fulfillment, and personal well-being."

If you missed Emotional Control Part 1, go there and get your directions on how to monitor your emotional awareness.

You can set the direction of your life.

Decide what direction you want to go.  Have faith in yourself and what God has given you.  We all have failure, learn from them and move on.  Make sure your self-talk is always positive.

You have everything you need to be successful.

So this wraps up or Self-Awareness.  If you have any questions do not hesitate to email or call.    We are here to help you be a success!

  Enjoy this journey!

Emotional Control, What????? Part 2

Accurate Self Assessment –
an inner awareness of your strengths and weaknesses.

Do you know what your strength and weakness are?

We are now moving into accurate self-assessment. People with this competency:

  • Learn from experience
  • Open to feedback
  • Have a sense of humor about themselves

People who do not have this competency:

  • Compete with other people instead of cooperating.
  • Exaggerate their own value and contribution.
  • They may be workaholics.
  • Micromanage.
  • Cannot admit their mistakes or personal weaknesses.

Do you know your limitations?

People without this competency tend to take on more than they can handle. You need to know why you are taking on a job or task.  This is very important because when things go awry people with this competency tend to want to blame others and not take responsibility for something you should not have been doing in the first place. Don’t think that you are the only one that can do the job or task.

God will get someone to fill the need!

We are all replaceable.  We may think we are not but as I have said before if God used an ass I think he will use someone to fill the task or job.  You will have less stress in your life if you will come to this realization. Do not hold yourself to a higher standard than another.  Make sure when you take on a job or task that it is one that you should be doing not because of an emotion (you think no one else can do it) or just to make you feel good.

Take a step back and ask God to open your eyes to help you see this realistically so you do not engage in a blaming behavior when things do not turn out they way they should.

We all want to be right. I have learned the most when I have failed or been wrong about something.  Did you ever have an event that was disappointing and you put the blame on others?  What was your role in the event?  Look inside yourself before you start to blame someone and take an assessment of what and why you are feeling this way. Do not take yourself too seriously when a mistake has been made.

Laugh at yourself!

When you make mistakes just laugh at yourself. Learn from them and move on.  Everyone makes mistakes, it’s just those who become aware of themselves will be able to learn and become better people and leaders.

We all have Behavioral Patterns.

Be aware of your emotions, you can break these bad behavioral patterns if you will become aware and realistic about where you are strong and where you are vulnerable.

Look at Emotional Control Part 1   again and take the emotional inventory.  This will show you your emotional patterns so you will become more self-aware.  You  will start to see where you are strong and where you are vulnerable.

I do not want you to look at this article and think badly of yourself if you do not have this competency. We are all in a learning process. I have had to learn this one myself.

Enjoy your journey to being a better you!

Emotional Control, What?????

Emotional Control, What???

Are you aware of your emotions?  We are going to focus on being self-aware, so you can learn to control your emotions.

Emotional Control is very critical; if we cannot manage ourselves then we are not self-aware.

There are 3 categories that are very important to controlling your emotions:

  • Self-Aware
  • Self-Assessment
  • Personal Power

We are now going to discuss self-awareness.

This is the ability to recognize our emotions and the effects that it has on us physically.

If you are self-aware or have emotional control you  recognize the subtle signals that tell you what you are feeling.  This recognition helps you to express your feeling appropriately.

Still not sure if you have this competency?

Think of a situation where you might felt this apprehension.  Does your heart race? Do you feel a knot in the pit of your stomach?  Do your shoulders get tight? It’s important that you pay attention to these feelings.  God has made our bodies this way for a reason; your body is telling you something when you feel this way.

Have you ever been in a situation where you felt like something was just not right or that you "shouldn’t buy the dress you want, because it is more than your car payment"?  Pay attention to that  emotion – ask yourself is this feeling from the Holy Spirit or is this just my emotions taking control at that moment?

Pay attention to these feelings and emotions.

I can't say it enough pay attention to these feelings and emotions. If you are having trouble with your money and you usually buy the dress or suit and wait to pay the car payment then you are not in control of your emotions.

If you follow through with the irresponable purchase and allow your emotions to become a vice... Do you really need that thing you are buying?  Do you really need the thing that you are buying? Think about it, we sometimes buy things because of how we feel at that moment.

Its also very important not to let others dictate how you feel!

Don’t let others dictate how you feel!

You do not have to feed off of someone else’s emotions.

I can remember being mad at my husband and wanting him to be mad and miserable like me. He was always happy go lucky and that just infuriated me.  But I was very wrong I should never had attempted to dictate my husbands feeling in order to try to make myself happy.

Emotional Control Competency.

If you do not have Emotional Control competency you will be imbalanced in work life, health and family.

To see how you do during the day with your emotions and feelings here is one way to rate yourself;

Make an excel spread sheet or piece of paper will do.

  • Left hand side put time of day
  • Across the top put the day. (Monday, Tues, etc.)
  • Identify what you are doing at that moment.
  • What your boldily sensations and feelings?
  • What is your emotion?

I would do this about every 4 hours.

This is one way of learning about your emotions. You may start seeing a pattern emerge.  Maybe you do not know why you spend money on things you don’t need.  This will help you decide if you are spending on an emotional need.  We do the same thing with our eating habits.  When there was something I really don’t want to do I would find myself looking for something to munch on so I would not have to do the thing I didn’t want to do.

Take control of your emotions! You can do this!  It’s all about learning to recognize what you are feeling and why.  You are on your journey to success!

... Pursuit of Happiness

…Pursuit of Happiness

I am writing this post today to let those of you that are wondering what happened with my sewing and imprinting business.  God has a funny way of working sometimes don’t you think?  He blessed me in my sewing journey for 18 years and now I am moving on into a new journey.  For those of you that know me as the Journey Weaver Life Coach, yes I have another business; in fact I have 5, less one now.

When I was younger and was a stay at home mom I had a dream of being a Christian Counselor.  I got a little side tracked, I know.  Anyway I was sewing on the side just to help out what I could financially.  God was so gracious and blessed my business beyond what I could ever believe.

In the mean time I kept reading books on counseling and kept my dream in my heart.  It became alive again when I started my 2nd business at the time, and a couple of mentors had their certification in Life Coaching and I became very interested.  So I looked into and received my certification in Life Coaching 3 years ago and received my Emotional Intelligence certification last year.

I have a mentor and very good friend (Browning O) that really pushed me into getting started again in my coaching.  I fell in love with coaching all over again.  My desire is to help people get what they want and show them that they can be happy where they are in their life at this very moment.  Sometimes we all need a little help and encouragement.

Now back to what I want to tell all of those that are wondering what happened to Powell Sewing.  I have closed the business to pursue a greater dream…. Nothing more, nothing less.  I will ask for your prayers in this journey that I am about to take, this is a big
change for me and my family.  It is a good change but when you have done something for so long it becomes a habit wither you like it or you don't.  It is what I know and now I am moving into something new, but exciting.

For those of you that are stuck in a place that you do not want to be, have hope because tomorrow is another day.  You can always fulfill your dreams it just takes longer when you get side tracked and forget where you want to go.  Stay focused on your dream you can make it happen.

God wants you to have the desires of your heart.  Don’t let stuff get in the way, and what I mean by stuff is the people around you pushing you to do what they think you should do, circumstances or just feeling unqualified to do what you really want.  Do not let feeling unqualified (as I once did) stop you from your destiny.  God put that dream in you…. Go for it!  If God used an ass I am sure he will use you in whatever your dream.....

We will discuss knowing what you want in an upcoming blog.

Learn This or Stay Broke

Subject:  Learn This OR Stay Broke!

This Wednesday I was able to grab
a 7-figure earner to talk about the
"Psychology of M0ney."

Why is this important to YOU?

Because if you don't understand & have
a good relationship with m0ney, you will
never attract it, period.

If you stay an obedient servant to m0ney,
it will own you for a lifetime and you will NEVER
become free.

The wealthy, on the other hand, have learned
to create a relationship with m0ney that serves them…

One that creates a vacuum and continues
to effortlessly attract & suck in gobs of cash
to their enterprises because they understand
the psychology of m0ney.

And I'm going to share it with you this
Wednesday, January 27th at 9:00 PM EST.
